Amanoiwato-jinja 天岩戸神社

You climb up to the main shrine holding on to a chain on the rock face.

One of the 元伊勢三社, the three shrines of Ōe said to predate Ise: local tradition holds that the deities later worshipped at the great shrine of Ise stopped here before being moved there. It stands set deep in a gorge on the stream.
