Ryuzu Falls (Ryūzu no Taki) 竜頭ノ滝

The water descends for about 210 metres over a lava flow from Mount Nantai, in a gorge about ten metres wide, and from late September the falls are the first spot in Nikko to take on their autumn colours.

A waterfall about 210 metres long that descends over a lava flow produced by the eruption of Mount Nantai, inside a gorge about 10 metres wide with rocky steps; near the base it splits into two streams of water, hence the name (‘dragon's head waterfall’). It is in Nakamiyashira, Nikko city, Tochigi Prefecture, and is one of the three best-known waterfalls in the Okunikko area.
