Gifu Castle (岐阜城) 岐阜城

The tenshu has been closed for earthquake-proofing works since 19/5/2026: it will not reopen before the end of 2027.

Fortress on the summit of Mount Kinka (329 m): it was the stronghold of Saitō Dōsan and then, from 1567, the residence of Oda Nobunaga. The current tower, in reinforced concrete in the form of a tenshu, dates from 1956.
