Nagoya Castle (名古屋城) 名古屋城
The tenshu has been closed since 2018: the wooden reconstruction will not come before 2032.
It was the seat of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa for about 260 years, the richest of the shogunate's collateral houses. The 1945 bombings destroyed almost everything except three corner turrets and the gates; the present tenshu, in reinforced concrete, is a 1959 reconstruction. The site has been a Special Historic Site (特別史跡) since 1952.
