Samuel Cocking Garden and Sea Candle (江の島サムエル・コッキング苑) 江の島サムエル・コッキング苑

The garden is free until five; after that you pay, and that is when they light it up.

The garden was created in 1882 by the British trader Samuel Cocking, who put in a greenhouse and tropical plants there. The observation tower, the Sea Candle, is sixty metres tall. To get up here from the bridge there is the Escar, Japan's first outdoor escalator, in three sections.
