Kiyosumi Garden 清澄庭園

Iwasaki of Mitsubishi had the stones around the pond brought from all over Japan.

An Edo-period residence, then a daimyō estate, turned into a garden in 1878 by Iwasaki Yatarō, founder of Mitsubishi, and opened in 1880 under the name Fukagawa Shimbokuen. The red-brick villa designed by Josiah Conder was destroyed in the 1923 earthquake. Opened to the public on 24 July 1932.
