Goryō-jinja 御霊神社

Here Akechi Mitsuhide, the traitor of Honnō-ji, is the city's guardian deity.

A shrine in central Fukuchiyama that venerates Akechi Mitsuhide among its deities. Mitsuhide founded the city and its castle; according to the tradition reported by local sources, after his death calamities struck the city, and the local lord, Kuchiki, allowed his spirit to be worshipped in order to appease it.
