Janjan Yokochō ジャンジャン横丁

A hundred and thirty metres of alley with some fifty counters serving skewers and stew.

Shinsekai came into being in 1903 on the site of the fifth National Industrial Exhibition, and its western part got the Tsūtenkaku and the amusement park, which drew theatres and cinemas. The official name of the alley is Nanyō-dōri Shōtengai (a shōtengai is a covered shopping street); Janjan is the nickname.
