Little Indigo Museum ちいさな藍美術館
A house from 1796, ¥300: it closes three days out of seven and for the whole winter.
A thatched farmhouse built in 1796, in the village of Miyama, where the indigo dyer Shindō Hiroyuki lives and works. Two rooms are open to the public: the collection of indigo-dyed textiles gathered from all over the world and the dyeing workshop, with its sunken vats. It is not a public museum, and that is the reason for everything else: the short hours, the low price and the closures.
