Meidaimae — Saitama's building (松原一丁目) 明大前

The neighbourhood around Meidaimae Station and the Matsubara crossroads (松原交差点), in Setagaya, is the model for ‘City Z’, where Saitama lives, even though the name suggests Saitama prefecture. The building where he lives has been identified: it is at 世田谷区松原1丁目39-16, four storeys with no lift, and in the comparison with the series the stair landing and the position of the bike rack match. Next door, at number 39-15, the Mitsui no Repark Matsubara 1-chōme Dai-2 car park is the one seen in the sixth episode, in the fight between Banehige and Golden Ball; right beside it there is also the FamilyMart Setagaya Matsubara 1-chōme. Three hundred metres away, towards the urban expressway, the 松原交差点 provides the shots of the roadway. The authors warn that in the series the geographical relationships between places are not reliable.

The building is a few minutes' walk from Meidaimae Station, on the Keiō Inokashira Line; from Shibuya it is ten minutes by express. The Matsubara crossroads is three hundred metres further on, towards the urban expressway.
