Akita Prefectural Museum of Art (秋田県立美術館) 秋田県立美術館

In Andō Tadao's hall there is a 20-metre-long painting by Foujita: ‘The Events of Akita’.

Opened in 2013 to a design by Andō Tadao, the museum holds the collection of the Hirano Masakichi Art Foundation; Hirano Masakichi was the merchant who commissioned Fujita Tsuguharu to paint the great mural ‘The Events of Akita’. The building replaces the previous museum, whose triangular roof it takes up as an architectural motif.
