On the Makinohara plateau, among the plantations seen from its windows.

Founded as ‘Ocha no Sato’ on the municipality's initiative, the museum was taken over by Shizuoka Prefecture and reopened with a new layout in 2018. It is the prefecture's main exhibition centre devoted to tea, and the prefecture on its own produces the largest share of Japanese green tea.
