Ōsu Kannon Temple (大須観音) 大須観音

The temple library holds the oldest surviving Kojiki, copied in 1371–72.

The temple library holds, in all, four National Treasures and thirty-seven Important Cultural Properties, about 15,000 ancient texts: they survived the bombings of 1945 because they were already shut away in a fireproof building. The temple gives its name to the whole shopping district around it.
