Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba 西湖いやしの里根場

A landslide wiped out the village in 1966: forty years later it was rebuilt by its residents.

Open-air museum village in the municipality of Fujikawaguchiko, run by the local tourism association, opened in July 2006 on the site of the old settlement of Nenba. On the night of 25 September 1966 a debris flow (土石流) swept away the fishing and farming village that stood here: of the more than forty original houses, only four were left standing. In 2006 residents and the municipality rebuilt about twenty of them, thatched, recreating the look of the lost village.
