Sakurai Futamigaura (wedded rocks) 桜井二見ヶ浦

The two sacred rocks, 11.8 and 11.2 m tall, joined by a sacred rope 30 m long weighing 1 tonne.

The rocks lie off the coast of Sakurai, in the municipality of Itoshima, and are known as the sunset counterpart of the Futamigaura of Ise, Japan's best-known pair of wedded rocks. Every year, between late April and early May, during the spring tides, the local community renews the rope that joins them.
