Hie Shrine (日枝神社) 日枝神社

In 2026, a grand festival year, the procession on 12 June passes through Ginza and Nihonbashi.

Shinto shrine on the hill of Nagatachō, guarded by pairs of stone monkeys instead of the usual komainu. The Sannō Matsuri brings out 55 floats and involves over 160 neighbourhoods of the city; it is held every year in June but alternates a ‘grand’ year (本祭, with a procession) and a ‘small’ one (without).
