Sumiyoshi Shrine, Ōme 住吉神社
Branch shrine of Sumiyoshi-taisha from 1369: historic site since 1953, dragon painted in 1824
The shrine was founded in 1369 (応安2年) as a branch of the great Sumiyoshi-taisha shrine in Osaka, dedicated to the three Sumiyoshi sea deities and to Empress Jingū. The municipality of Ōme designated it a historic site (史跡) on 3 November 1953; on the same day, but eleven years later (3 November 1964), the ceiling dragon painting was also designated a municipal cultural property.
