Takeda Shrine 武田神社

The treasure museum holds the Ichimonji sword that belonged to Takeda Shingen himself.

Founded in 1919 after a popular movement begun in 1899 to honour Takeda Shingen (1521–1573), who was posthumously awarded the third court rank in 1915. It is classed as a ‘separate list’ shrine (別表神社) in the modern Shinto system. The daimyō (feudal lord) ruled Kai for thirty years from this residence without ever building himself a real castle, loyal, it is said, more to men than to walls.
