The station Rintarō comes out of every morning on his way to school: it opens the everyday part of the series from the first episode, when he goes through the ticket gates by exit 2, the same exit where, in episode 4, he waits for Kaoruko so they can go and study together. The ‘浅黄中央 / Asagi Central’ sign of the fictional station is traced from the one for the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library (都立中央図書館), at the junction on Gaien-nishi Avenue 130 m north of the exit: same shape, same position on the pole. In front of the public bath 広尾湯, 63 m from the station, with the coin laundry in the background, Shōhei and the others are hassled in episode 1, and in episode 7 it is from there that they tail Rintarō. Only in the manga, in chapter 23, does Rintarō wait for Kaoruko and Subaru on platform 1 for the six-person study session, which the anime cuts. Around the station are the neighbourhood's other backgrounds, all less than 400 m away: Hiroo Sanpo-dōri street and the residential lanes of Hiroo 5-chōme from episode 5.
A station on the Hibiya Line. Hiroo is the Tokyo core of the setting, together with Hiroo Kita Park, 670 m further up. Administratively the station is in Minato, on the border with Shibuya.
