Takeo Onsen Rōmon Gate 武雄温泉楼門

The red gate of 1915, by the architect of Tokyo Station, does not use a single nail.

Takeo Onsen, first mentioned in writing in the Hizen Fudoki (Nara period). The Rōmon gate and the adjoining building, in Tenpyō style, were completed in 1914–15 to a design by Tatsuno Kingo; both have been Important Cultural Properties since 2005. The new building served as a public bath until 1973, then became a museum.
