Tanzan Jinja 談山神社

It houses the only thirteen-storey wooden pagoda still in existence in the world.

Tanzan Jinja holds the tomb of Fujiwara no Kamatari (614–669), one of the architects of the Isshi coup of 645. The shrine itself was only founded in 678, at the wish of Emperor Tenmu. Its thirteen-storey pagoda, rebuilt in 1532, is designated an Important Cultural Property (重要文化財) and is the only wooden example of this type still in existence in the world.
