Taro-ken (タロー軒) タロー軒

It is the model for the ‘だがしや すずめ’ sweet shop that opens episode 8: here Rintarō and Shōhei, with their Chidori classmates, buy food after the sports competition. In the anime the sign is the sweet shop's and the awnings promise takoyaki and monja; the drawing takes the ramen-ya's façade and carefully reproduces the surrounding buildings too.

A ramen-ya in business since 1978 in Kōenji-Minami, Suginami, a 5-minute walk from Shin-Kōenji Station: in reality it is a ramen and curry restaurant open 24 hours a day, not a sweet shop; the drawing borrows only the façade. Seen from the side, the restaurant is barely two metres deep.
