Founded in 1950 in the castle park, it has been here since 1983, on a site six times larger.

Hamamatsu's municipal zoo was founded in 1950 inside the city's castle park and moved to its current site at Kanzanji in 1983, six times larger than the first. It borders the Flower Park, but is a separate attraction with its own entry.
