Minoo Falls 箕面大滝

The fried maple leaves spend a year in salt before they go into the oil.

The waterfall is in Meiji no Mori Minoo Quasi-National Park and is one of Japan's hundred selected waterfalls. The name comes from the shape of the falling water, similar to a mino, the farmers’ wicker winnowing basket: it passed from the waterfall to the city. The leaves that are fried are not the red ones but those of the ichigyōji-kaede, thicker and less jagged.
