Oizumi Gakuen Station 大泉アニメゲート
The neighbourhood of Nerima, where Rumiko Takahashi lived for almost thirty years, inspired the setting of the town of Tomobiki: in the seventh volume of the manga the Moroboshi family's address reads ‘Nerima-ku Koizumi Gakuen’, a distortion of Ōizumi Gakuen. Since 2015 the pedestrian deck at the north exit has been home to the Ōizumi Anime Gate, with five bronze statues of characters linked to the neighbourhood (among them Lum in her tiger-striped bikini) and one of her famous lines engraved in the floor.
Since June 2021, also at the north exit in front of Grand Emio, the Nerima Ward Office has installed three art manhole covers: Lum, Maetel from Galaxy Express 999 and Joe Yabuki from Rocky Joe.
