The only aquarium in western Japan with belugas: the bubble show has recently been suspended.

Opened on 15 April 2000 in a shark-shaped building on the Hamada coast, the aquarium holds about 400 species and 10,000 animals in 4,500 tonnes of water. It is the only one in western Japan with belugas, famous for the bubble rings they blow in the water. Since 28 August 2026 their show has been suspended indefinitely following the death of the beluga Seelya: check whether it has resumed before planning a visit specifically for it. The Hasshi stage also hosts performances of kagura, the sacred Shinto dance of the Iwami area.

Prefectural aquarium in Hamada, in the Iwami region, among the largest in Chūgoku-Shikoku by area (about 14,000 square metres). An exception to the cap for its band (§1 of the campaign brief, decision by the traveller of 05/09/2026): a major aquarium does not take up one of the 8–12 places for the long band's own entries.

ℹ️ Open 9:00–17:00, closed on Tuesdays (the following day if Tuesday is a public holiday). Adult tickets from 1,700 yen. 12 minutes on foot from JR Hasa Station (San'in line), or 2 minutes from the ‘Aquas-mae’ bus stop.
