The great wisteria is over 160 years old: transplanted at 130, the first such success in Japan.
The park's symbolic wisteria, now over sixty… or rather over a century old (more than 160 years), was transplanted when it was already 130 by Japan's first certified female arborist, Tsukamoto Konami: a transplant on that scale had no successful precedent in the country. The park is the only Japanese site on CNN's ‘10 dream travel destinations’ list of 2014.
Flower park in Ashikaga. Address 足利市迫間町607.
ℹ️ Blooming runs from mid-April to early May, with the Wisteria Festival and night illumination in some periods: this is when the resemblance to the scene is strongest. Out of season the park stays open, and from late October to mid-February it hosts the winter illumination, ranked first nationally five years in a row.

The trellis of the ‘great miracle wisteria’, a plant over 150 years old, is what readers recognise in Mount Fujikasane, where the Final Selection to join the Demon Slayer Corps takes place; wisteria is also the flower that keeps demons away. It is an attribution by readers, not an official collaboration.
