400 domes to sleep in and an open-air fitness course with 60 stages: opened in 2007.
Opened in 2007 as a ‘health theme park’, the complex is known above all for its more than 400 dome-shaped accommodation units, scattered over a hillside in Minami-Aso. Its free day-use area, the 阿蘇元気の森 (10,000 tsubo, about 33,000 m²), offers a course of 60 outdoor physical attractions (from rope bridges to climbing nets) that takes about 90 minutes to complete in full, with shorter versions of 47, 37 or 22 stages for anyone with less time or a different level of fitness. The complex also includes hot springs, a restaurant serving home-grown vegetables and a small petting corner with capybaras, beavers and flamingos.
