Three hundred metres up, and you can drive right to the top: fireworks and bonfires are banned.

From the open area at the top of Ōmine you look north over the southern part of Kyoto city and south over Kansai Science City, with the Kizu River in between; by car you get up there without walking. The municipality bans fireworks and bonfires in writing and asks you to take your rubbish home: that alone says what kind of place it has become at night.

A viewing terrace on the summit of Mount Ōmine, three hundred metres up, above the town of Ide, between the Kyoto basin and the Kizu valley. It looks north over the southern part of Kyoto city and south over Kansai Science City.

ℹ️ You get there by car, and the municipality publishes neither how to get there by public transport nor how many parking spaces there are. ⚠️ The municipality does not state opening hours or closures, and unofficial sources say that in summer the terrace is closed at night: if you are going for the night view, phone the municipality first, on 0774-82-6162. There is a written ban on fireworks and bonfires, and you take your rubbish home.
