At low tide, with no wind and at sunset, 1 kilometre of sand becomes a mirror.

At low tide, when the wind drops in the evening calm – the ‘yūnagi of the Seto’ – a film of water on the sand reflects the sky at sunset, along a kilometre of shoreline.

A beach on the Inland Sea coast at Mitoyo, in western Kagawa, which in recent years has become one of the most sought-after photo spots in the prefecture: the effect has been viral since 2017, when it earned the beach the nickname ‘Japan's Uyuni’, after the salt flat in Bolivia, and in 2018 the beach came first in Jalan's sunset ranking.

ℹ️ Free access, always open. The official website publishes the low-tide and sunset times every day, so you can plan your visit for the right time; free car park with 300 spaces, about 20 minutes by car from the motorway junction.
