Created in 1966 when an ordinance banned street stalls, with 20 eateries of 6 seats each.
Visitors find about twenty eateries lined up under the same roof, almost all with a counter of six or seven seats, where you eat elbow to elbow with whoever sits next to you: a ‘Shōwa retro’ atmosphere that here is not a reconstruction but the survival of the original, born when an ordinance of 1966 banned the mobile stalls on the main street and gathered the stands under this roof.
An alley of taverns and small bars created in 1966 (Shōwa 41) at the far end of the Katamachi entertainment district, to bring together under a shared roof the mobile stalls banned by the new municipal ordinance of those years.
ℹ️ Public alley, always accessible; the individual venues keep their own evening hours, mostly opening from late afternoon into the night. 5 minutes' walk from the ‘Katamachi, Tatemachi’ bus stop.
