The only work in Tōhoku by Tatsuno Kingo, the architect of Tokyo Station: it dates from 1911.

Built in 1911 as the head office of Morioka Bank to a design by the firm of Tatsuno Kingo and Kasai Manji, it is the only Tatsuno building left in Tōhoku. The red-brick structure with copper domes stopped operating as a bank in 2012 and has been a museum since 2016, divided between the free area of Iwate Bank and the paid area of the old Morioka Bank.

Former head office of Morioka Bank, in Western style on a load-bearing brick structure, a national Important Cultural Property.

ℹ️ Open 10:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30), closed on Tuesdays and from 29/12 to 3/1. Admission 300¥ adults, 100¥ students up to junior high.
