Its Starbucks, the first in the world inside an urban park, won an award in 2008.
Opened on 1 July 1997 along the Fugan Canal, the park became known in 2008 when the Starbucks overlooking the water won first prize in a shop design competition, earning the reputation of ‘the most beautiful Starbucks in the world’ (the chain's first inside an urban park). The Tenmon-kyō footbridge, with twin towers 20.4 metres high linked by a ‘red telephone’, lets you admire the canal from above; sightseeing boats travel along the canal towards the historic Nakajima lock from April to November.
Public park of 9.7 hectares along the former Fugan industrial canal, in the centre of Toyama city, redeveloped in the late ’90s as a green and cultural space (since 2017 it has also been home to the prefectural museum of art and design).
ℹ️ The park is always open and free. The sightseeing boats to the Nakajima lock run roughly from April to November; the car park (171 spaces) starts charging from 13 March 2026, about 110 yen per 30 minutes with the first hour free.
