Inside the gorge it is three degrees cooler than on the street, ten minutes from the train.

You go down a steep flight of steps and the city switches off: inside the gorge the temperature drops by about three degrees. A kilometre of path follows the stream to the Todoroki Fudōson temple, where a teahouse serves kuzu-mochi.

A valley cut by the Yazawa stream into the Musashino plateau, in Setagaya Ward. The drop in height and the dense vegetation keep it cooler than the road that runs above it.

ℹ️ Ten minutes on foot from Todoroki Station, Tōkyū Ōimachi Line. Access is down a steep flight of steps. The path is about one kilometre each way. ⚠️ The path is narrow, in some stretches it has no railing, and there is no lighting: it is a place for daylight. Reopened on 24 March 2026 after almost three years of closure because of dangerous trees.
