The municipality closes it in bad weather, and in 2026 this happened at least four times.
Its real name is Sakimotobu Green Space; the name everyone uses comes from the rock that looks like a gorilla bringing down a chop. It is a diving and snorkelling spot, with a free car park, an accessible toilet and a gazebo. The sand has stones scattered over it, so you need shoes.
A coastal green area in the municipality of Motobu, in the Sakimotobu district. It is classified not as a park but as a green space with facilities, and it is a bus stop on the Motobu circular sightseeing bus.
ℹ️ Free admission and parking. ⚠️ The municipality physically closes the area in typhoons or bad weather, and in 2026 it published at least four closure notices. ⚠️ No source, official or otherwise, states that there is a lifeguard or a jellyfish net: this is silence, not confirmation, and anyone who swims should bear it in mind. Ask the Motobu tourist association.
