A kilometre of linear park, rebuilt in 2020: 54,122 m², four zones, free.

The park cuts through central Nagoya from north to south for about a kilometre, and since 2020 its northern half has been a ribbon of lawns, pools and low pavilions. Anyone coming out of the metro at Hisaya-odori finds themselves among the shops without having walked a minute. In summer children go into the pool, which is eighty metres long, and people sit on the lawns to eat.

久屋大通公園 is the linear park that splits central Nagoya in two. The northern section and the one around the tower were rebuilt under a Park-PFI contract (the municipality remains the owner, a private company designs and runs it) and reopened on 18 September 2020 under the name Hisaya-odori Park, together with the commercial part, RAYARD Hisaya-odori Park, entrusted to Mitsui Fudosan. The rebuilt area measures about 54,122 square metres and is divided into four zones, with an eighty-metre sheet of water and a multi-purpose lawn.

ℹ️ The park is free and has no opening hours; the shops and restaurants each keep their own, which differ from one to the next. A kilometre in length means that walking the whole of it and back is a proper walk: the metro has three stations along the park (Hisaya-odori, Sakae, Sakae-machi), and it is worth choosing in advance which one to get off at. The MIRAI TOWER stands inside the park, on the southern section, and has its own ticket and hours. In mid-October the park hosts the Nagoya Matsuri, the city's festival: in 2026 it is on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18. ⚠️ On 10 June 2026 the municipality announced that the parade of the three warlords would not be held that year; what remains, here in the park, are the allegorical floats and the flower floats, the float musicians with the clockwork puppets, the shrine music and an evening of dancing. Without the parade, the road closures that went with it are dropped as well. The programme goes ahead in the rain and is called off in a thunderstorm.
