Glazed hall on the 15th floor above the station, free entry: the tower is 245 m tall.
Above the tracks of Nagoya Station rise two towers, twins and yet different: one of offices, one a hotel. Anyone without a ticket for either of them can still go up to the fifteenth floor, where a wall made entirely of glass looks out over the city and, on clear days, the mountains. There is nothing to pay and nothing to book.
The JR Central Towers rose directly above Nagoya Station around 2000, designed by a consortium of Taisei, Sakakura Associates and JR Central, with the American architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox as consultant. The office tower reaches 245.1 metres and the hotel tower 226; the complex has 53 floors above ground, four below ground and over 416,000 square metres of floor space. Since 2017 the JR Gate Tower, 220 metres tall, has stood next to it.
ℹ️ The Sky Street on the fifteenth floor is reached by the complex's lifts and costs nothing. ⚠️ Its opening hours are not stated by any official source: it is best to go when the shopping floors are open, that is, between 10:00 and 21:00. The Takashimaya shops close at 20:00; the restaurants keep going until 23:00.
