Its iron-rich outdoor bath looks straight out over the wooded valley of Kurama.
The spring, rich in iron, feeds an outdoor bath high up, from which you see only the Kurama valley, with no other buildings in view: in autumn the maples turn colour around the bath, and in winter you may find yourself bathing while snow falls. It is a few minutes' walk from Kurama-dera and Yuki Shrine, the starting point of the mountain trail to the village of Kifune.
Accommodation with a hot-spring bath in the mountain village of Kurama, at the far north of Kyoto city, served by the Eizan railway.
