The water is so shallow that at the right tide you can walk out to the reef.
It is a natural beach, not an equipped bathing beach: two kilometres of sand if you count the adjoining Hyakuna as well, and water that stays shallow for quite a way out. Boats with plexiglass bottoms pass over the shallows, a trip of about twenty minutes. At the far end of the beach there is a café built on the rocks, with tables looking out over the water.
A beach on the southern coast of Nanjō, in the Hyakuna district. It is a public beach with little development: there are changing rooms, showers, a shop, a restaurant and glass-bottom boat hire.
ℹ️ Free admission; the car park costs five hundred yen a day. Facility hours 8:30–17:00, until 17:30 from May to September. ⚠️ A lookout tower is listed among the facilities, but no source states that it is staffed, and no source mentions a jellyfish net: anyone who swims should bear this in mind. The swimming season is not stated.
