Closed for restoration from 1/10/2026 to 22/4/2027; ASIMO has not given shows since 2022.
At its centre is the Geo-Cosmos, a suspended globe covered in OLED panels that shows the Earth's clouds and temperatures, as seen by satellites, in near real time. The exhibitions are interactive, designed for children and families too. The ASIMO robot, for years the best-known attraction, has not given demonstrations since 31 March 2022, although many online guides still promise it. The museum closes for maintenance work from 1 October 2026 to 22 April 2027.
The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation opened in 2001 in Odaiba, in Kōtō Ward, on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay separate from the one with the Fuji TV headquarters. Inside, interactive exhibitions cover robotics, space and biotechnology.
