Three historic Mazdas on free display on the 1st floor; paid galleries from the 2nd to the 4th, 510 yen.
On the first floor, free of charge, are three vintage Mazdas and a suspended monorail; in the forecourt outside you can pedal unusual bicycles and drive an electric kart. Until 2015 the museum was called the ‘Transport Science Museum’. A family guide warns: you lose track of time here, so it is best to eat before going in.
The museum, called 広島市交通科学館 (Hiroshima Transport Science Museum) until 31 May 2015, displays models and real vehicles connected with transport (train, car, ship) from the past to the future. The first floor and the outdoor forecourt are free, with three historic Mazdas and a suspended monorail; the paid galleries from the second to the fourth floor explore the themes further with interactive exhibits.
ℹ️ Open 9:00–17:00; the galleries on the 2nd to 4th floors, the bicycle ticket counter and the shop close at 16:45. Closed on Mondays (open if a public holiday, then closed the following weekday) and from 29 December to 3 January. Admission: 510 yen for adults aged 18 to 64, 250 for over-65s and under-18s; the first floor and the forecourt remain free.
