At low tide you can walk for hours on the coral reef, which is usually under water.
It is a natural beach, not an artificial one like many on the tourist coast: the coral reef and the rocky areas have been left as they are, not levelled. The large tidal range, which is felt more here than elsewhere, uncovers the coral reef for a few hours, and that is when guides take visitors to observe the life that normally stays under water. The name comes from ニライカナイ, the divine realm beyond the sea in Ryukyu cosmology.
It lies on the central-western coast of Yomitan. It is noted as one of the best spots in the area to watch the sunset over the sea.
