54 hectares on the former 1964 Olympic Village, hanami among the cherry trees.
The fifth largest park in the 23 wards, opened in 1967 on a former imperial parade ground that after the war housed the American base Washington Heights and then, in 1964, the Tokyo Olympic Village. In Area A the building that housed the Dutch athletes is now a café, open since 9 April 2026. It is one of the most sought-after places in Tokyo for hanami, and on spring weekends the events area, separate from the rest of the park, gets crowded.
The National Gymnasium, where the other half of the sequence takes place, is about 500 m away: in the film the two places seem to be right next to each other, but on the ground they are not.
ℹ️ This part of the park is open 24 hours a day.

The second event battle of ‘Ordinal Scale’ and, the next morning, Kirito's first encounter with the hooded ‘ghost’. The identified spots are all inside the park: the viewpoint walkway, where the ghost appears; the grand staircase; the open space in front of the open-air stage, which is the battle arena, with the clock also drawn in the anime; the Parks Yoyogi No. 1 kiosk where Kirito and Asuna sit down to talk; and the rose garden, shown in a single still.
