it is the stadium where Japan beat Argentina 3–2 at the Tokyo 1964 Olympics
The park was created in 1964 as the second hub of the Tokyo Olympics: football (with Japan's historic 3–2 win over Argentina), wrestling, volleyball and hockey were played here. The control tower, 50 metres high, and the Olympic tripod still stand at the centre of the area. Today it is above all a park for everyday sport, with a 2,140-metre running track, and for events such as the ginkgo fair at the end of November.
