Three hundred varieties, three million tulips on eight hectares: free outside the fair.
The park was created in 1964 on a former agricultural test field, and every year in late April it hosts the Tonami Tulip Fair: three hundred varieties and three million flowers over about eight hectares, with themed paths, ponds and the Tulip Tower, from which you can see the pattern of the flowerbeds from above. For the rest of the year entry is free, and in winter the park is lit up for the ‘Kirakira Mission’ event.
Municipal park of Tonami, run by the city's Flowers-Greenery-Culture foundation, created by converting an experimental nursery on the Tonami farming plain.
ℹ️ Open all year, free entry outside the fair period; during the Tulip Fair (late April, about three weeks) there is an admission charge, and the park closes 10 days before and 7 days after for setting up. Source: Tonami municipality.
