The observation tower, built in 1987 for the 20th anniversary of the municipal administration, stands at 189 metres on Sakurayama hill, among the hiking trails of the Kaji Hills. At the foot of the tower lie the tea plantations that are Iruma's local industry, the same land that supplies ALIT, the municipal tea museum a short distance away. In spring the cherry trees that give the hill its name come into bloom.
