Shōtengai where Iseya Mochi has sold rice sweets since 1952, among old and new shops

Around the small Zōshiki Station, chain stores and family-run shops stand side by side in an atmosphere that several local sources describe as ‘the '50s’. At the most-cited address, the Iseya Mochigashi-ten confectioner has served rice sweets since 1952: a 2025 review notes that it holds on while elsewhere the shutters stay down.

Shopping street on the southern outskirts of Ōta-ku, which grew up around Zōshiki Station after the war. The Ōta ward tourism body lists, besides the Iseya confectioner (open since 1952, Shōwa 27), three other long-established businesses on the same street: the Marumi Shokuhin butcher's, the yakitori shop Takezawa Shoten and the standing sushi bar Sakaba 917. There is no traders' association with its own website describing the street as a whole, unlike other better-known shōtengai in Tokyo.

ℹ️ Public street, open at any hour; individual shops keep their own hours, not a common timetable. For Iseya Mochigashi-ten two secondary sources disagree: Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday 9:30–18:30 according to one, 8:30–18:00 with no closing days given according to the other; neither is the shop's official site, as it does not have one.
