The water is 24 degrees in summer and 12 in winter; the waves here are for beginners.
Four kilometres of black volcanic sand between Inamuragasaki and Koshigoe, and this is the stretch where you learn: the waves are short and regular, while three hundred metres further east, below Inamuragasaki, they become more powerful and technical. The good season is not summer but autumn, when typhoon swells send in long waves; in winter they are stronger and there is nobody around.
It looks out towards Enoshima Island, and Mount Fuji on clear days. It is the same coast that serves as the setting for Bunny Girl Senpai, produced by the same studio.
ℹ️ Free entry, Shichirigahama Station on the Enoden line. For those going into the water: in summer 24–26 °C and a 2 mm shorty wetsuit is enough, in autumn 18–22 °C and you need a 3 mm one, in winter 12–15 °C and you need a 4 mm full wetsuit, in spring 15–18 °C. ⚠️ On summer weekends it is very crowded, and sources warn that Mount Fuji can be seen much less often than the photographs would have you believe.
