700 m of white sand, the largest beach in Izu, with lifeguards six weeks a year.
It is the largest and busiest beach on the Izu peninsula, with pale sand that contrasts with an emerald-green sea. Together with Imaihama (Kawazu) and Yumigahama (Minami-Izu), it is considered one of the three great beaches of Izu, and it is a regular destination for surfers.
The sand and access are free all year round, but lifeguarded swimming is seasonal: in 2026 the official period with lifeguards is from 18 July to 31 August, 8:00–16:00. Outside those dates and hours there are no rescue staff.
ℹ️ Free entry. Paid car park in summer (about 2,000 yen). 15 minutes by bus from Izu-Kyū Shimoda Station, Respo Shirahama bus stop.
