The Jugetsukan ryokan (寿月館, 住吉229) is the reference point used by pilgrims, 390 m to the east.
ℹ️ The reference point on site is the hot-spring ryokan 寿月館 (佐渡市住吉229): the Niigata Prefecture tourism association gives ‘the road near 寿月館’ as the film's location, and the two scouts who went there say ‘just under 3 km from Ryōtsu port, right after 寿月館’. The marker is 420 m further west along the same coast road.

The heart of the film's pilgrimage: Sumiyoshi's straight coast road, with the sea opening out beyond the guardrail, is Satomi's route to school. Within a few hundred metres are the other recognised backgrounds: the bus stop Satomi uses, the spot where Shion waits for her, the Hoshima monitor along the route, the rice field with the sign for the agricultural robot experiment and, from the beach (住吉海水浴場, address 住吉181), the view into which the giant floating solar power plant is inserted. The official tour in March 2025, with director Yasuhiro Yoshiura and sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami, included it as the film's main location.
